Akiyoshidai International Art Village (AIAV)

Built in 1998 in the city of Shuho, next to Akiyoshidai National Park. Offers international and domestic artists a base for expressive and creative activities, thereby hoping to bring international attention to the region. Aomori Contemporary Art Center

Contemporary art center with a residency program, which enables international and local artists to collaborate, produce, and exhibit in Aomori-City while experiencing its culture and landscape. [en, ja]

ARCUS - artist in residence

Program for young and mid-career visual artists. Promotes the international exchange in the arts as well as with the local community. Organized by the Ibaraki Prefectural Government since 1995. [en, ja]

Arts Initiative Tokyo (AIT)

Not for profit contemporary art organization, made up of curators and art organizers. Exhibitions, symposia, slide talks and discussions, publications, education courses, museum visits, artists in residence, etc. [en, ja]

International Research Center for the Arts (IRCA)

Educational program of the Kyoto University of Art and Design (KUAD), under the guidance of three internationally well-known artists: SENJU Hiroshi, MIYAJIMA Tatsuo and MORIMURA Yasumasa. Offers international fellowships. [en, ja]

The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme

Aims to promote internationalisation at the local level by inviting young overseas graduates to assist in international exchange and foreign language education in local governments, boards of education and junior and senior high schools throughout Japan. [en, ja]

Mécénat - Association for Corporate Support of the Arts

Kigyo Mecenat Kyogikai (name in Japanese) was founded in February 1990 by private corporations as Japan's first non-profit association devoted to promoting corporate support of the arts. Nagasawa Art Park Artist-in-Residence

Artists from around the world can apply for a two-month work grant and training in the traditional Japanese technique of woodblock printmaking in the village of Nagasawa on Awaji Island. [en, ja]

Youkobo Art Space
